About Amanah Hartanah Bumiputera (AHB)
AHB is a Shariah-compliant unit trust fund that invests primarily in the beneficial ownership of commercial properties in prime locations in Malaysia. The fund can be subscribed by Bumiputera investors at a price of RM1.00 per unit at all authorised distributors throughout Malaysia.

AHB is backed by prime commercial properties that are already tenanted and are enjoying a steady stream of rental income. It is established to provide opportunity to Bumiputera investors to participate in owning prime commercial properties through the holding of units in AHB as unit holders.

AHB launched on 20 October 2010 with an initial fund size of 1 billion units. Its financial year end is 30 September, and the current fund size stands at 5.0 billion units.

Primary Underlying Assets
AHB invests primarily in beneficial ownership of real estate in Malaysia. Beneficial ownership is defined as the right to a steady rental income stream generated by AHB’s real estate portfolio, but not the potential capital gains/losses from the property. Rental income is generated via long term sale and leaseback agreements with AHB’s Sponsor, Pelaburan Hartanah Berhad (PHB) or its affiliates.

Prof. Dr. Aznan Hasan
CHAIRMAN
Dr. Aznan is currently an Associate Professor in the Institute of Islamic Banking and Finance at the International Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM). He received his first degree in Shariah from the University of al-Azhar and a Master’s degree in Shariah from Cairo University with distinction (mumtaz). He then obtained his Ph.D from the University of Wales, Lampeter, United Kingdom.

He is the current President of the Association of Shariah Advisors in Islamic Finance (“ASAS”). He is also the Deputy Chairman of Shariah Advisory Council of the Securities Commission Malaysia and a former member of the Shariah Advisory Council of Bank Negara Malaysia. Dr. Aznan serves as Chairman of the Shariah Committee of Maybank Islamic Berhad, Chairman of the Shariah Advisory Board, Barclays Capital (DIFC, Dubai), a member of the Shariah Advisory Board, ABSA Islamic Bank (South Africa), FNB Bank, Yasaar Limited, Khalij Islami, European International Islamic Bank (“EIIB”), AmanahRaya Berhad, AmanahRaya Investment Bank Labuan, Employee Provident Fund and some other financial institutions and corporate bodies at both the local and international level. He also serves as a Shariah consultant to Maybank Investment Bank Berhad. He is a registered Shariah Advisor for the Islamic Unit Trust Schemes and Islamic securities (Sukuk), Securities Commission Malaysia as well as a member of the National International Zakat Organisation (“IZO”) Coordination Committee, an advisory body established under the Prime Minister’s Department, and a member of the Shariah Supervisory Board of the Waqaf Foundation (Yayasan Waqaf), a corporate entity formed by the government to oversee the application of Waqaf in Malaysia.

Dr. Aznan is also a prominent author in Islamic finance and to date, has produced a number of books and publications in journals and has presented several conference papers / proceedings at various international events / conferences.
Dr. Ismail Mohd @ Abu Hassan

Dr. Ismail Mohd was appointed as a Shariah Advisor to Amanah Hartanah Bumiputera (AHB) on 29 May 2022. Currently, he is a member of the Shariah Committee for RHB Islamic Bank Berhad, Bank Pembangunan Malaysia Berhad and Sun Life Malaysia Takaful Berhad. He is also a Registered Shariah Adviser for Sukuk and Unit Trust (registered with Securities Commission Malaysia), a Registered Syarie Lawyer, and an accredited trainer for Islamic Finance Qualification (lFQ) by Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment.

He also appeared as an expert witness in subsequent probate cases in Singapore, Brunei and Malaysia. He was one of the committee members in drafting the Islamic law for Will and Trust for Jabatan Kemajuan Islam Malaysia (“JAKIM”) and Malaysia Islamic Judiciary Department and sits as a Shariah Advisor for Amanahibah Malaysia since 2001. Dr Ismail sits on the Board of Trustee for Infaq lil Waqf, ANGKASA and is a Shariah committee member for Koperasi Angkasa (KOPSYA) ANGKASA and Board of Director as well as Shariah committee member for Etiqa Takaful Malaysia and Maybank Islamic Berhad. He is also a registered Shariah Advisor for the Islamic Unit Trust Schemes and Islamic securities (Sukuk), Securities Commission Malaysia.
Mohd Fadhly Md Yusoff

Mohd Fadhly Md. Yusoff was appointed as a Shariah Advisor to Amanah Hartanah Bumiputera (AHB) on 29 May 2022. Currently, he is a member of the Shariah Committee for RHB Islamic Bank Berhad, Bank Pembangunan Malaysia Berhad and Sun Life Malaysia Takaful Berhad. He is also a Registered Shariah Adviser for Sukuk and Unit Trust (registered with Securities Commission Malaysia), a Registered Syarie Lawyer, and an accredited trainer for Islamic Finance Qualification (lFQ) by Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment.

Mohd Fadhly currently runs his own business and is also an independent Shariah advisor and consultant. He joined the Islamic Capital Market Department of Security Commission Malaysia, in 1995, where he obtained extensive supervisory and research experience in relation to securities, structured products, and collective investments for 12 years. He left the Securities Commission Malaysia in 2008 as a manager.

He then became a Consultant to the Securities Commission Malaysia for Islamic Capital Market Department before joining the Pertubuhan Peladang Kebangsaan (NAFAS) Shariah Committee as a member. He also serves as a Shariah Committee member of Opus Asset Management Sdn Bhd and Apex Investment Services Berhad.

Mohd Fadly received a bachelor’s degree in Shariah (First Class Honours) from the University of Malaya, Malaysia, in 1995. He also holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Administration of Judiciary & Islamic from University Kebangsaan Malaysia.
